Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers Foundation, the charitable arm of the professional hockey team, contributed more than $77,000 in tickets, merchandise and financial support to the Miami Valley community during the 2007-08 season.

The contributions of the Bombers Foundation have benefitted schools, youth hockey programs and non-profit groups in Dayton and its surrounding communities. This year, the Bombers contributed to more than 250 organizations.

The teams' authentic game-worn red jerseys were auctioned to benefit the Fisher/Nightingale Houses at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, raising more than $8,400. At a recent Multiple Sclerosis Society benefit, defenseman Mike Campaner's authentic blue #7 jersey was auctioned for $600. Campaner was diagnosed with MS during his senior year of NCAA Division I college hockey at Colgate University.

The Children's Medical Center of Dayton, For Love of Children, Inc. and various police and fire departments surrounding Dayton were the recipients of nearly 1,000 stuffed animals following the Bombers annual "Teddy Bear Toss" in December. Bombers fans gave nearly 500 pounds of canned goods to The Foodbank of Dayton during a holiday food drive in December 2007.

The Bombers gave countless hours of their time through player, mascot and staff appearances. Bombers players visited Tecumseh Elementary in Xenia to discuss the importance of teamwork, the Primrose School of Centerville to participate in Dr. Seuss Day and Read Across America and the Prairies School for reading and floor hockey clinics. The teams' mascot, Bucky, the Flying Squirrel, was out and about all year long at festivals, parades and charity events. He helped raise funds at the MDA Telethon, welcomed home deployed soldiers at Heroes Welcoming Heroes and learned how cars are made at the General Motors 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Save the date! The Bombers will open their 2008-09 campaign at the Nutter Center on Saturday, October 18 against the rival Cincinnati Cyclones! Discounted tickets for groups of 10 or more are available by calling 775-4747.
