Bombers Drop Second Straight to Gems

QUINCY, Ill.--The Quincy Gems got the better of the Dubois County Bombers for the second straight night, winning 7-4 Friday night in Quincy. Bronson Smith pitched a complete game for the Gems, allowing four runs (only two of which were earned) on nine hits and two strikeouts. Pichi Torres lasted five and one-third inning and took the loss, allowing five earned runs on five hits and six walks while striking out two.

For the season, the Gems and the Bombers split their games with 6 wins apiece.

Bomber Manager Ryan Anderson is already prepping his team for the single elimination Western Divisional Playoff on Tuesday against the Terre Haute Rex. In the final two innings he used 3 pitchers - Spencer Sapp, Nick Smart and Nick Green just to get them the necessary work and keep them sharp for the upcoming playoffs.

The Bombers final regular season road trip concludes in Danville Saturday night. They return home on Sunday, August 5, when they host the Danville Dans at 6:15 p.m. It is Family Night at League Stadium with Reserved seats discounted $2 and general admission tickets discounted $1.

Monday, August 6 is the regular season finale and Fan Appreciation Night at the ballpark as all Bomber fans can enjoy the game with a General Admission Ticket for just $1 or any reserved seat chairback for just $2. Game time is 7:15 p.m. versus the Springfield Sliders.

Tuesday the Bombers host the Terre Haute Rex in the big playoff game and the right to advance to the Prospect League championship series.. Advance Tickets are on sale at regular prices of $5, $7 or $8. Gates will open at 6:30 on Tuesday.
