
Bombers Defeat Marshals 6-1 in Bryan

The Brazos Valley Bombers defeated the Texas Marshals 6-1 on Saturday night in Bryan. Cody Brannon picked up the win for the Bombers as he allowed just one run on three hits in six innings with eight strikeouts.
The Bombers went ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run triple by Dane Steinhagen off of Marshals starting pitcher Jonathan Lycan.
The Marshals cut the Bombers lead in half in the top of the fourth inning as Michael Hoard was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Daniel Rushing.
The Bombers extended their lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Josh Foster. Both runs were unearned as a Marshals error extended the inning. The Marshals committed three errors in the game.
Gary Caldwell hit RBI singles in the sixth and seventh innings for the Bombers to make it a 6-1 lead.
Lycan took the loss for the Marshals as he allowed five run on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
Keaton Brewer pitched the final 2.2 innings allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
The Marshals only had three hits in the ballgame. Daniel Rushing, Carson Shaddy, and Jace Reese each had base hits for the Marshals.
With the win, the Bombers remain in first place in the TCL standings with a record of 16-5. The Marshals fall to 4-16 with the loss. The two teams will meet again on Sunday night for the second game of the series at 7:05pm at Cellucor Field in Bryan.
