Bocachica walk-off blast give Cats comeback win

West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats defeated the Nashville Sounds, 5-4, on a walk-off home run by Hiram Bocachica on Monday night at Raley Field. The Cats entered the 9th down 4-0 and with just 2 hits on the night, but rallied with 2 outs in the final frame. After Jeremy Brown and Charles Thomas grounded out to start the inning, Nate Espy drew a 2-out walk. Mike Rouse followed Espy and promptly hit his 6th home run of the season over the right field wall. Doug Clark followed with a single and Keith Ginter was hit by a pitch, the 4th River Cats batter to be hit on the night.

Nashville closer Alec Zumwalt then came on to face Bocachica, who hit his first pitch over the left field wall for the game winner. It was Bocachica's 16th home run of the season. Lefty rehabbers Joe Kennedy (on the 15-Day Disabled List since May 11 with a sore left shoulder) and Scott Sauerbeck (on the 15-Day Disabled List since July 26 with a strained right groin) both made their first Major League Rehab appearances for the Cats this season, holding the Sounds scoreless through 4 innings. Matt Roney earned his 4th win of the season throwing a perfect inning of relief in the 9th. With the win, Sacramento moves to 63-54 and 12 games behind first place Tucson.
