North Iowa Outlaws News Release

(Mason City, IA) The mid-season struggles continued Sunday afternoon for the North Iowa Outlaws' Junior "A" Hockey team. The squad limped into the holiday break on the heels of a 2-0 shutout loss, which was inflicted by the Bismarck Bobcats. The defeat now puts the Outlaws six points behind the Bobcats, in the battle for the fourth place standing, in the NAHL Central Division.

Both goalies played quite well, in this defensive contest. Outlaws' net minder, Jay Clark (Baudette, MN) turned aside 19 shots, but was vicitimized for the second straight game, by a lack of offensive support. Bismarck's Clark Oliver saved 22 shots, to earn the shutout. The Bobcats' Tyler Romasco scored both goals, to provide Oliver with all of the offensive support. One-time Outlaws' player, Josh Seifert, assisted on both of the Romasco goals.

It proved to be a happy homecoming, as well, for the Bobcats Alex Maginnis. The former Mason City Mohawk hockey standout assisted on the first Bismarck goal Sunday afternoon.

Bismarck's win gives puts the Bobcats one game over .500, heading into Christmas. The loss, North Iowa's third straight, dropped the Outlaws' record to 11-18-2. Over the last 12 games, the Outlaws have gained just four of a possible 24 points, compiling a record of 1-9-2. Up next for the Outlaws are a pair of games versus the Springfield Junior Blues, December 30th and 31st. North Iowa will make the road trip to Springfield for the Friday, December 30th game at 7:30. The two teams will then clash the following night, at the North Iowa Ice Arena in Mason City.
