It is just three weeks to the Danbury Westerners 2011 New England Collegiate Baseball League season and excitement is building as the club readies its line-up for the 40+ game schedule.

June 10th kicks-off with the annual Westerners Celebrity Breakfast at 7:30am at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, followed by the Westerners first regular season game at Rogers Park against the Mystic Schooners at 6:30pm, then a post-game celebration at Coyote Maverick to commemorate the Westerners 17th season.

The annual Celebrity Breakfast welcomes the 2011 Danbury Westerners to the greater Western Connecticut community. In addition, the Danbury Westerners are thrilled to announce that former major league ballplayer and manager, as well as former Japanese Pacific League manager and current ESPN analyst Bobby Valentine will be their special speaker at the event.

Bobby Valentine, a life-long resident of Stamford and owner of Bobby Valentine's Sports Gallery Café in Stamford. Sports Illustrated recognized Bobby as one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century from Connecticut.

Paul Schaffer, President of the Danbury Westerners, commented, "We are very fortunate to have one of the most knowledgeable baseball minds in Bobby Valentine speak at our annual breakfast, where we will also introduce the 2011 team to our fans and sponsors. Bobby has had a remarkable career in baseball spanning over forty years, and I'm sure the 2011 Westerners, along with those in attendance, will learn something new."
