Bluefish Sign Former Big Leaguer Adron Chambers

(Bridgeport, Conn.) - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced the signing of outfielder Adron Chambers.
"Adron has a lot of experience playing at the higher levels," says Bluefish Manager Luis Rodriguez. "We're happy to have him in the outfield this season."
Adron Chambers joins the Bluefish for his tenth season of professional baseball and first in the Atlantic League. Last year, the lefty played for Triple-A Iowa (Chicago Cubs) of the Pacific Coast League. In 88 games, he collected a .280 batting average with 30 RBI and 40 runs scored. The 29-year-old began his professional career in 2007 after being selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 38th round of the MLB draft. He spent seven seasons with the Cardinals organization, appearing with the big league club in 2011, 2012, and 2013. In 84 Major League games, Adron has a .216 batting average with nine RBI and 11 runs scored. In 828 career minor league games, Chambers owns a .277 batting average with 37 home runs, 306 RBI, 450 runs scored, and 115 stolen bases.
In a corresponding roster move, the Bluefish have traded infielder/pitcher Dan Johnson to the Long Island Ducks for a player to be named later.
