Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(Bridgeport, Conn - Aug. 10, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish have announced the hiring of veteran minor league baseball executive Ken Shepard as the team's new general manager. Shepard brings over 15 years of successful minor league operating experience to the Bluefish and begins work in Bridgeport on August 20, as current GM Bob Goughan steps down to pursue new career opportunities.

"Ken Shepard is an outstanding executive and one I am pleased to welcome to the Bluefish," says Principal Owner Frank Boulton. "At the same time I wish Bob Goughan all the best as he starts a new chapter in his life after a fine minor league baseball career."

Shepard will transition into his new role with the assistance of Goughan, who has served as the team's GM since December of 2009.

Shepard's previous experience has included key positions in three growth service and product industries; professional sports, the health care industry and higher education. The St. Thomas University graduate has had successful runs as the GM of several minor league baseball clubs, including stints with the Frank Boulton-owned Prince William Cannons, Wilmington Blue Rocks and Atlantic City Surf.

"We have been successful in stabilizing the business operation of the Bluefish," continued Boulton. "Bob and his staff have certainly worked hard to keep the ball rolling in the right direction. Now, we look to establish stronger partnerships and support in the corporate and greater Southern Connecticut market to sustain professional baseball in the community for many years to come."

The Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball Club, a charter team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, plays its home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, located off Exit 27 of I-95 on the corner of Broad Street and South Frontage Road in Bridgeport. 2012 group outings and individual tickets are available by calling 203-345-4800.
