Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

Bridgeport, Conn- The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) today announced that the Bridgeport Bluefish are this year's recipients of the Ken Shepard Award for Promotional Excellence. The Ken Shepard Award recognizes extraordinary promotional impact throughout the Atlantic League, whether a single promotion, or a series of noteworthy efforts during the course of the season. This annual award is named after Ken Shepard, former Bluefish General Manager who passed away in September 2014 following his battle with kidney cancer.

"We are extremely honored and proud to receive this award named after our late colleague, Ken Shepard," says Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole. "It is always our goal to provide affordable, family fun entertainment to all of our fans. We strive to create an exciting atmosphere at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard and hope to provide something that every fan can enjoy."

In 2016, the Bluefish planned a dynamic promotional schedule. Some highlights include four special Guest Manager appearances, including softball superstar Jennie Finch, former MLB pitcher Roger Clemens, former MLB player and manager Ozzie Guillen, and the professional wrestling trio of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman, also known as nWo. The Bluefish also hosted a series of post-game 3D Fireworks shows, and various entertainment acts like the ZOOperstars! as well as appearances from fan-favorite Ghostbusters and Star Wars characters.

In addition to the entertainment that the Bluefish provided to fans, the team also had many giveaways throughout the season. Some giveaway items that fans took home include a series of bobbleheads in the likeness of former baseball greats, as well as a series of pins, team baseball cards, t-shirts, pint glasses, and even dog bandanas on the biannual Bark in the Park Night, when fans can bring their pups to catch a baseball game.

The Bluefish are already hard at work planning the promotional schedule for the 20th anniversary season in 2017. Keep checking back at www.bridgeportbluefish.com for updates about the upcoming season.
