LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Riding a three-game winning streak, the Hickory Crawdads came back from an early four-run deficit, but fell 5-4 to the Lakewood BlueClaws before 4,526 fans at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood on Sunday afternoon.

Three walks, two hit batters and three errors by Hickory fueled a three-run first inning for the BlueClaws (16-13) against Hickory starter RHP Jake Brigham. Brigham settled down in a three-up-three-down second inning of work, but allowed a run to score in the third before being relieved by RHP Fabio Castillo (0-2). Castillo kept the BlueClaws at four runs for the next three innings, allowing the Crawdads time to come back.

Hickory (16-14) scored one run in each inning from the fourth to the seventh to tie the game, 4-4. A C Leonel De Los Santos sacrifice fly in the fourth, a 3B Matt West sacrifice fly in the fifth, an RBI single by CF David Paisano in the sixth and an RBI double by LF Eric Fry in the seventh comprised the comeback.

However, the BlueClaws plated a go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh, finally chasing Castillo from the mound. Castillo, who was tagged with the loss, went four innings overall, surrendering just one run on five hits and one walk, along with a season-high six strikeouts. RHP Tyler Tufts came in in the seventh inning and got out of the frame with no further damage done, before pitching a scoreless eighth as well.

The Crawdads had one last gasp in the top of the ninth against RHP B.J. Rosenberg. 2B Erik Morrison led off the inning with a double to center field and advanced on a one-out fly ball hit to left by Fry. With two away and Morrison on third, RF Timmy Rodriguez blooped a pitch to shallow center, but was robbed of what would have been a game-tying single by a diving catch by BuleClaws CF Anthony Gose for the final out in the game. RHP Ryan Bergh (2-1) registered the win for the BlueClaws, pitching the seventh and eighth innings with only one run allowed on one hit, and RHP B.J. Rosenberg dealt a scoreless ninth, thanks to Gose's catch, for his fourth save of the season.
