Evansville BlueCats News Release

In a seesaw game that featured an offensive explosion of 139 points, the Evansville Bluecats pulled off a 71-68 victory against interstate rival the Ft. Wayne Freedom. There were 19 touchdowns during the game including a franchise record 7 rushing touchdowns for the Bluecats. Adrian Reese took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown for the Freedom, but the Bluecats proved to be up to the challenge as the lead changed hands 8 times in the 1st half.

The only defensive stop for either team came on an interception at the goal line by ‘Cats defensive back Moses Washington with 18 seconds left in the 1st half. That interception and a 48-yard field goal by Brad Zientara late in the 4th quarter provided the cushion they needed as the Bluecats held off a hard-charging Ft. Wayne team in an indoor football classic.

Ramon Robinson completed 15 of 29 passes for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first ever start as the Bluecats quarterback. All 3 of his TD passes went to John Gordon who finished with 4 catches for 88 yards. Michael Cosey had his best effort of the young season with 99 yards rushing and 3 rushing touchdowns. Byron Curtis added 3 rushing touchdowns and Demetrius Doss pitched in with 1 rushing touchdown.

The Bluecats now look to avenge another early season loss as they travel to Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri to take on the Show-Me Believers. Last minute reservations for the fan bus traveling to this week's game are being taken at the Bluecats' office by calling 812-491-9401. The next home game will be on May 15th versus the Atlantic City Card Sharks on ½ price EVSC high school night.
