BlueCats Sign Pair of Pitt Panthers

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are pleased to announce that defensive back Tez Morris and running back Raymond Kirkley have joined the team for the 2007 season. Both players had impressive college careers at the University of Pittsburgh.
Defensive back Tez Morris was a four-year starter at free safety at Pitt. He played in every game during his four college seasons and was a starter in 46 of his 49 career games. He finished his college career as one of the most prolific tacklers in school history with 366 total tackles, ranking him 7th in school history. As a senior in 2005, he ranked second on the team with 81 tackles and tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles on his way to second team All-Big East honors. He was the third leading tackler as a junior with 85 tackles, including 7 tackles against Utah in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl. He was the fourth leading tackler as a sophomore with 81 and ranked second on the team with 119 tackles as a freshman, earning a spot on the Sporting News Big East All-Freshman Team.
The BlueCats also signed Raymond Kirkley, a 5'10", 225-pound running back from the University of Pittsburgh. Kirkley was a 3 year starter at Pitt, including as a true freshman in 2001, and as a redshirt junior and senior in 2004 and 2005. Overall, he started in 30 of the 39 games he played in during his time in college and rushed for 1,708 career rushing yards and 11 touchdowns and had 410 career receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. He led the Panthers in rushing in 2001 and 2004. In high school he rushed for 5,362 yards and 87 touchdowns in his high school career, finishing as Central Virginia's all-time career leading rusher and scorer and was named the state, district and regional Player of the Year at Madison County High School.
Tez Morris and Raymond Kirkley were scouted and placed by the coaches and staff of the indoor football scouting bureau.
