BlueCats Return Home to Battle Greyhounds

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats (3-5) finally return home for the first time in over a month this Saturday night when they take on the Ohio Valley Greyhounds (3-5) at Roberts Stadium. Evansville is coming off a 3 game road trip where they won 2 of their 3 games away from home, including a last second victory over the Fort Wayne Freedom (3-6) last weekend. This Saturday's game will be the second meeting of the season between the BlueCats and Greyhounds, Evansville won the first meeting between the two teams 36-34 on the road earlier this season on April 2nd. Saturday's game against Ohio Valley is sponsored by Expressway Dodge and is also "Military Night" with all Military personnel in uniform admitted free. To claim your free ticket, all military personnel in uniform should go to the Ticketmaster box office at Roberts Stadium on the day of the game and pick up a complimentary ticket.

Evansville enters the game tied with Omaha (3-5) for the 6th playoff spot at the midway point of their season. The BlueCats are now returning home for the next 5 consecutive weeks where they owned the best home winning percentage in the entire league a year ago, winning 6 of their 7 games in the friendly confines of Roberts Stadium.

Quarterback Matt Kohn leads the Greyhounds offense, which as a team, leads the UIF in passing. Individually, Kohn ranks second overall in passing (174.1 ypg) and total offense (196.8 ypg) behind only Lexington quarterback Eddie Eviston. His 28 passing touchdowns this season rank as the 3rd most in the league. His favorite target is Greyhounds' wide receiver James Taylor. Taylor is the league's leading receiver with 50 catches and 600 yards receiving this season, good for first place in both categories. In the first meeting between the two teams this season, Kohn passed for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns while connecting with Taylor for 12 receptions for 131 yards.

BlueCats linebacker John Winchester broke the team record for tackles in a game against the Greyhounds back on April 2nd, recording 14 tackles in that game. 3 of those were tackles for a loss.

Last week against the Freedom, the Evansville offense scored all four of their touchdowns on the ground as running back Dale Jennings and quarterback Aaron Leak rushed for two touchdowns each.

BlueCats kicker Ton-Ton Luzayadio leads all kickers and ranks 5th overall in the league in points scored. Last weekend his left foot connected on a 46-yard field goal at the end of the game to give the BlueCats a 33-31 victory. It was his second longest field goal of the season, as the longest came against the Greyhounds from 47 yards back in Week Two.

This week against Ohio Valley, the Harley Davidson motorcycles from ABATE of Indiana - Region 8 will return to Roberts Stadium. They will be on hand and participate in the BlueCats pre-game ceremonies.

The Gus Doerner Charity football toss will once again be taking place at halftime. Before the game and during the first half of all 2006 home games, fans can purchase footballs to be "tossed" at targets on the field during halftime for a chance to win prizes from Gus Doerner sports. Saturday's charity is the Knight Township Fire Department. All proceeds from Saturday night's edition of the charity football toss will go to the Knight Township Fire Department to help their Tornado Relief Fund.

Kickoff on Saturday will be at 7:05pm. The gates at Roberts Stadium will open at 6pm. The BlueCats invite fans to show up early and tailgate with your fellow fans. The first 1000 fans that enter the gates will receive a free mini clapper from Expressway Dodge, along with free game programs and Evansville BlueCats Spirit Signs.
