UIF Week 10 Preview

Omaha, NE - Week 10 of United Indoor Football will feature one game on Friday night at the Horsemen head to Bloomington to take on the Extreme. Saturday will have two games with the Beef in Peoria and Ohio Valley visit Evansville. The Sioux Falls Storm (9-0), Sioux City Bandits (4-5), Rock River Raptors (6-3) and the Ft. Wayne Freedom (3-6) all have byes this week and will rest up for Week 11 action.

LEXINGTON HORSEMEN (7-1), AT BLOOMINGTON EXTREME (4-4) - This is the first of two meetings between these teams in the final seven games of the season. Lexington is looking to get back on track versus the Extreme after falling for the first time last week. The Horsemen defense gave up their most points of the season by allowing 62 last week. Lexington has only allowed over 40 points twice this season. The defense is led by defensive back William Mulder, who leads the UIF in interceptions with 8. Mulder has also accounted for 22 tackles this season. The Horsemen offense is still the highest scoring unit in the UIF with 46.5 points per game. Bloomington got a big win last week to get their record to 4-4 and put the Extreme right in the middle of the playoff hunt. Bloomington has the 4th highest scoring offense in the league with 42.4 points per game. Running back James Fuller has quietly racked up the 4th most rushing yards in the league with 259. Fuller has added 8 touchdowns this season. The game will kick-off at 7:05 pm CST on Friday night at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in the heart of Bloomington.

OMAHA BEEF (3-5), AT PEORIA ROUGH RIDERS (0-8) - Omaha lost another heartbreaker last week after coming back to tie the game in the 4th quarter against the Extreme. Bloomington scored a touchdown with 38 seconds left to secure the victory. The Beef have held second half leads or been tied in each of their last four losses. The Beef now find themselves in a logjam at 3-5 for the final spot in the playoffs. The Beef scored their 3rd most points of the season (40) last week as RJ Rollins added two more touchdowns to bring his league leading total to 16 on the season. The Beef offense is averaging 37.1 points per game this season, which ranks 6th in the UIF. Peoria's offense also scored more points than average last week as the Rough Riders scored their second most points of the season (45) last week. Peoria's offense is averaging 33.1 points per game. Wide receiver Phil Taylor Jr. is in charge of the offense by hauling in 31 receptions and scoring 9 touchdowns this season. Linebacker Blue Aldridge leads the defense with 33.5 tackles. Game time is slated for 7:05 pm CST on Saturday night at the Carver Arena.

OHIO VALLEY GREYHOUNDS (3-5), AT EVANSVILLE BLUECATS (3-5) - With wins last week, both teams find themselves in the thick of the playoff hunt with only seven games to play. The teams will play each other twice in the final two months in extremely important games. This game marks the first of five in a row at home for the BlueCats. Evansville has not had a home game since April 22. Ohio Valley scored in the 60's for the third time this season as they got back on the winning side of things vs. Peoria. Quarterback Matthew Kohn passed for seven touchdowns last week to bring his season total to 28, which is third best in the UIF. Kohn has thrown 31 more passes than any other QB in the league (238) and has only thrown five interceptions this season. Evansville beat Ohio Valley 36-34 in Week 2. Dale Jennings scored three touchdowns in their earlier meeting. The BlueCats defense is allowing 43.6 points per game, which is tied for 8th in the UIF. The game will be at Robert's Stadium, "The Fish Bowl," at will kick-off at 7:05 pm CST.
