BlueCats Manus Signs with CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats of United Indoor Football are pleased to announce that wide receiver Tommy Manus has signed a contract to play with Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. As per team policy, terms were not disclosed. Manus originally signed with the BlueCats late last season and was an important part of the BlueCats 2006 playoff run. Manus will begin the 2007 season playing for the BlueCats until he reports to training camp in Canada later this spring.
Manus spent time with the Baltimore Ravens in 2005, where he signed a rookie free agent contract and played in 3 preseason games before an injury forced his release and an injury settlement. As a senior at Morgan State, he earned second team All-MEAC honors and was invited to play in the Las Vegas All-Star game.
"Tommy Manus is a physical receiver that can move very well," said Blue Bombers General Manager Brendan Taman. "He provides a big target for quarterbacks to throw to and we look forward to seeing what he will be able to do in training camp."
Evansville BlueCats Head Coach John Hart said, "We're absolutely thrilled for Tommy. Talents like Tommy Manus don't come around very often and we're very excited for him to get this opportunity at the next level. We knew he would get a chance sooner or later and for him to get a spot with Winnipeg is really special. Several of our guys have been getting looks from AFL and Canadian teams and we couldn't be happier for these guys. They put in so much work and I know their teammates and the other coaches are wishing them well."
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers play their first exhibition game on June 14th against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and open the regular season on the road against Edmonton.
Tommy Manus was scouted and placed by the coaches and staff of the indoor football scouting bureau, the official scouting service of the Evansville BlueCats.
