BlueCats Attend Winter Meetings

January 15, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF)
Evansville BlueCats News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN: This past weekend, representatives from the UIF teams met in O'Fallon, Missouri, for the annual winter meetings. Team directors, coaches, and operators discussed various issues and made decisions on a variety of topics as the teams make final preparations for the upcoming 2007 indoor football season.

Highlights of the meetings include:

- The 2007 Playoff Format was decided. Eight teams will make the playoffs in 2007 with four teams competing from each division (east and west). Playoff teams will be seeded 1-4 by winning percentage and will play within their division until the east division meets the west division in United Bowl III.

- The teams were introduced to the new Director of Officials, Jack Baker. Jack has 26 years of NCAA Division I officiating experience, including 10 bowl games. Baker also has 11 years of experience with the Arena Football League, including 7 Arena Bowls. In all of his previous assignments, Baker served as the referee in charge of all other officials.

- Coaches met, discussed and made minor changes to the rule book in an effort to make the game more competitive, to save confusion for the officials, and to make the game more exciting.

- Operations and management staff met to discuss ideas and strategies that each team had implemented in their respective markets. This kind of open sharing of marketing and management ideas between team's make the UIF one of the strongest indoor football leagues in the country.

Evansville BlueCats Owner and President John Voliva said, "These meetings went very well and were productive in making sure everything is in place on a league level for 2007. We're expecting to have another great season with 11 solid teams competing for the United Bowl III Championship. There isn't any doubt in my mind that the UIF is the best and most stable indoor football league in country and it's going to show with the product on the field and with the work going on by these teams in the communities."
