BlueCats Announce 2007 Schedule

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats professional indoor football team is pleased to announce their schedule for the upcoming 2007 indoor football season. In 2007, the BlueCats will be celebrating their 5th Anniversary season of entertaining Evansville area sports fans of all ages. The regular season for the BlueCats will run from March 24th to July 14th with the playoffs taking place in late July. The Evansville BlueCats, a member of United Indoor Football, will play their home games at Roberts Stadium.
This season, the BlueCats schedule features home dates with the all five of their UIF East Division counterparts, the Lexington Horsemen, River City Rage (St. Louis, MO), Bloomington Extreme (Bloomington, IL), Ohio Valley Greyhounds (Wheeling, WV), and the Rock River Raptors (Rockford, IL). The home schedule will also feature the BlueCats playing host to the Sioux City Bandits from the UIF West Division, in the Bandits first ever trip to Roberts Stadium. The home slate will feature seven regular season games against these six opponents as the BlueCats will host division arch-rival Lexington twice in the 2007 season.
The BlueCats are once again set to play eight regular season road games. These road games include trips to all of the East Division opponents, including two trips to Wheeling, West Virginia, to take on the Ohio Valley Greyhounds. The BlueCats will also travel to Sioux City to face the Bandits and travel to Omaha for a Sunday afternoon contest against the Beef on Mother's Day.

All BlueCats home games will start at 7:05pm at Roberts Stadium. Roberts Stadium is known all around the league as providing the BlueCats with the best home field advantage in the UIF.
The season kicks off on March 24th in a big way with the BlueCats renewing their rivalry with the River City Rage. Long time BlueCats fans may recognize the River City Rage as the Show Me Believers, a name by which they were previously known in the 2003 and 2004 seasons, when the BlueCats and Rage were both members of another league. The River City Rage joins the UIF for the 2007 season. The all-time series between the two teams is split at one game apiece. The BlueCats won the most recent meeting between the teams on May 8th, 2004, by a final score of 88-84, in a game that set numerous offensive and scoring records for both teams. The 172 points scored set a single game total points scored record for the entire sport of indoor football that still stands.
Evansville BlueCats Head Coach John Hart said, "We're really excited to have the finalized schedule out and we're looking forward to having an even more successful season in 2007. March will be here before you know it so it's exciting to get things started again as we work towards our ultimate goal of bringing a championship to Evansville."
Last season the BlueCats mounted a second half surge that pushed the BlueCats on to their best season yet by advancing in the playoffs all the way to the UIF semi-finals. The BlueCats lost by only 6 points on the road to the eventual National Champion Sioux Falls Storm, who went on to win United Bowl II the following weekend. In 2006 the BlueCats made the playoffs for the second consecutive year and brought home the first playoff win in franchise history, setting the stage for even bigger things to come in 2007.
