Blue Sox to honor Marc Fucarile on July 18th game at Mackenzie Stadium

The Hoyoke Blue Sox are pleased to announce "Boston Strong" night on Thursday, July 18th at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The team plans to honour the victims of the attacks on the Boston Marathon. The game starts at 6:35 P.M. Gates open at 5:35 P.M.

The Blue Sox are also excited to announce that the special guest of the team will be, barring any unforeseen travel complications, Mr. Marc Fucarile. Mr. Fucarile was severely injured in the attacks and was the last of thirty-one patients to be released from Massachusetts General Hospital. He is making steady progress in his recovery, and he recently served as the honorary banner captain for game four of the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Finals at the TD Garden.

The Blue Sox are donating a portion of the proceeds from ticket and concessions sales to the fund that has been created to help pay for Mr. Fucarile's extensive medical expenses. In addition, a silent auction will be held consisting of items donated from the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Springfield Falcons, and the Holyoke Blue Sox. 100% of the proceeds will benefit The Marc Fucarile Fund. A 50/50 raffle will also be conducted, in which proceeds will benefit The One Fund Boston.

The Holyoke Blue Sox have been a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL: www.necbl.com ) since 2008. The NECBL, which is funded in part by Major League Baseball, is comprised of thirteen teams throughout the six New England States. The Blue Sox play their home games at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
