Blue Ducks set to take on Wildcats

Brevard Blue Ducks News Release

Melbourne, Florida – The Blue Ducks will have revenge on their minds Tuesday night as they take on an Adirondack team that saddled them with back-to-back losses to open the season after their first two contests up in New York.

“We’ve got to care of our home court,” suggested Ducks head coach, Robert Reid.

That they must. At 1-4 and staring at a 13-day, 6-game Midwest road trip after this home stand, the Blue Ducks must perform well in their next four games at the Clemente Center.

“You hate to say these games are critical so early in the year,” remarked team owner, Mike Richman. “But they are to us.”

The Blue Ducks are nursing injuries to many of their starters which has greatly hampered their ability to get off to the kind of start they anticipated this season. Point guard Teddy Dupay underwent arthroscopic surgery to his knee that has caused him to miss the start of the season. HeÂ’s expected to rejoin the team within a few weeks. Another former Gator, Kenyan Weaks, was put on injured reserve because of sore knees. Terrence Shannon, whom the Blue Ducks reacquired before the season to give them strength in the front court is nursing a healing foot. ShannonÂ’s replacement, Don Carlisle, separated his shoulder in Saturday nightÂ’s game in Florence.

“Injuries are part of sports,” said Richman. “It just seems we’ve had more than our fair share to start off the season with. We hope that we’ve already hit our quota for the year.”

Game time for Tuesday nightÂ’s contest is 7:00 PM at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech in Melbourne. For tickets call (321) 751-BLUE (2583) or log on to the Blue Ducks website at www.BrevardBlueDucks.com. Tickets are also available at the Clemente Center box office starting at 6:00 PM.
