Brevard Blue Ducks News Release
Glens Falls, NY â A day after getting drubbed in their first game of the season, Ducks coach Robert Reid wasn't about to let his team slip into a slump.
"It is important for us to get our first win under our belts," remarked Ducks head coach Robert Reid after last night's loss. "Especially on the road. We aren't going in to lose tomorrow."
Reid's forecast proved not to be too accurate.
Riding behind another strong effort by Jimmy Hunter (24 points) and shooting 54% from the floor as a team, the Wildcats netted their second win in a row over Brevard, 101-73.
Brevard never seemed to get on track, shooting a dismal 33% from the field and not fairing much better at the free throw line, making only 24 of 41 attempts.
Nat Burton had his second strong showing for Brevard, netting 24 points and 7 rebounds. Newcomer Rob Brown, who the Ducks expect a lot from this season, had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
It was the guard play that let Brevard down, allowing Adirondack's backcourt to score at will. The Wildcats starting backcourt outscored Brevard's 45 to 11. Former Gator Brett Nelson wasn't much better off the bench, hitting only 1 of 7 field goal attempts, while netting 3 points.
"We've got Tony Harris at home back in Brevard," commented team owner, Mike Richman. "He's healthy and ready to go for our first home stand. He'll help a lot. I hope that Teddy (Dupay) is a fast healer. We can really use him back too."
The Ducks get one day of rest before heading off to play Brooklyn on Monday, then head home to begin their third season of action at the Clemente Center on Thursday at 7:00 PM against the Florence Flyers. For tickets, call (321) 751-BLUE or visit their website at www.BrevardBlueDucks.com.
DUCK NOTES: Adam Hall is the latest to go on the injured list after severely spraining his ankle in practice last week. The second year forward flew back to his home in Texas to get treated by his own specialist. He's expected back sometime during the Ducks first home stand.
"We're going to have to try to be patient," claimed Ducks owner, Mike Richman. It's going to take a little time to get our whole team back together.
