WINNIPEG, MB. - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the club has signed international running back Jalen Simmons and international defensive back Mykkele Thompson.
Simmons (5'8, 205, South Carolina State, April 1, 1992 in Charlotte, NC.) played 44 games for the South Carolina State Bulldogs, rushing for 2,618 yards and 17 touchdowns on 554 carries. In 2016, Simmons signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent. He also spent time with the San Diego Chargers, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.
Thompson (6'1, 195, University of Texas, April 22, 1993 in Naples, Italy) played four seasons for the Texas Longhorns, finishing with 213 total tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles in 52 games. Thompson was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the New York Giants and also spent time with the New Orleans Saints.
