The Bloomington Thunder has opened pre-season camp in preparation for the opening of the Southern Professional Hockey League season next week.

Going camping: Thunder Coach Brian Gratz has welcomed 26 players to camp (14 forwards, 9 defensemen, 3 goalies) at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The pre-season roster can be found here.

Check us out: Fans and media are welcome to attend camp sessions on Tuesday, October 15 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 16 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Enter through the south VIP doors of the coliseum.

We're on exhibit: The Thunder will play two exhibition games in a home-and-home series with the Peoria Rivermen this weekend, traveling to Peoria for a Friday game at 7:15 p.m. before returning to U.S. Cellular Coliseum for the lone home pre-season game this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. All seats for Saturday's exhibition game are general admission for $7.

It's a new car!: The regular season opens next Friday, October 25 at 7:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum as the Thunder host the Rivermen and one fan will drive away in a new car courtesy of O'Brien Mitsubishi. All those in attendance age 18 or older receive one free entry while Hat Trick ticket package holders receive three entries and season ticket holders receive 10 entries. Season tickets are still available as are Hat Trick and other partial ticket plans by calling 309-434-2980.

Listening for Thunder: The Thunder will visit Peoria on Saturday, October 26 at 7:15 p.m. before traveling to Fayetteville, N.C. for the opening weekend of November. After opening night, the Thunder won't return to U.S. Cellular Coliseum for game action until they begin a four-game homestand on November 8. All regular season games can be heard on 93.7 FM inside U.S. Cellular Coliseum and online at WJBC.com with a listen live link also found on the homepage of www.bloomingtonthunder.com. Fans can also subscribe to an online video feed of all Thunder games, home and away, complete with the WJBC play-by-play with a subscription link to America One Sports found at www.bloomingtonthunder.com.

Don't forget Junior: The Bloomington Junior Blaze open their home season with three games this weekend against the Detroit Fighting Irish. Games are scheduled for U.S. Cellular Coliseum ice at 3 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday before the Thunder exhibition game that night and 11 a.m. Sunday. Fans may also watch all Junior Blaze games home and away through Fast Hockey with subscription links available on the team's web site at www.bloomingtonblazejr.com or the Midwest Junior Hockey League site at www.mwjhl.com.
