
Bloomington Blaze will play hockey at US Cellular Coliseum

Local hockey officials say the new Bloomington hockey team will be "Blazing a New Trail" in the Twin Cities. Owners Gary DelBuono and Sandra Hunnewell announced today, the team will be called the Bloomington Blaze and the head coach will be Jason Christie, former Prairie Thunder coach. Christie is also now the Director of Hockey Operations.
The Bloomington professional hockey team will play in the 14-team Central Hockey League beginning in October. Bloomington will be in the league's Turner (Northern) Conference along with the Fort Wayne Komets, Dayton Gems, Quad City Mallards, Missouri Mavericks, Rapid City Rush and Evansville IceMen.
