Blizzard rally to dump Billings
December 2, 2004 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Alexandria Blizzard News Release
The Minnesota Blizzard Junior "A" Hockey team made a stirring comeback from a three-goal deficit to edge Billings, 6-5 in a shoot- out. The Bulls led, 4-1 going into the final period, but Minnesota goals by Dan Swanson (Menomonee, WI), Jake Nelson (Superior, WI), Paul Henderson (Menomonee, WI) and Bobby Kuehl (St. Paul, MN) vaulted the Blizzard to their first lead of the night, 5-4.
Billings tied the game with just over nine minutes to go. No further scoring would take place in regulation or the five-minute overtime. Ryan Hawkins (Eden Prairie, MN), who earlier scored a power-play goal, got the only goal in the shoot-out for Minnesota.
Blizzard goalie Marcus Paulson made 35 saves, plus stonewalled all five Billings snipers in the shoot-out.
The win halted a two-game losing skid for the Blizzard, and puts them all alone in third place in the NAHL Western Division, with a record of 14-6-2.
