Friday evening, the Minnesota Blizzard Junior "A" Hockey team achieved a milestone, after a 4-2 home victory over Bismarck, at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. The victory was the 21st of the season for the Blizzard, which surpassed the Minnesota win total in 2003-04, its inaugural season.
Four different Blizzard players turned the goal light on, in the game. Forward Josh Frider (Moorhead, MN) put Minnesota on top, in the opening period. Second period goals were scored by Forward Dan Swanson (Menomonie, WI) and Defenseman Karl Larsen (Princeton, MN). The Bismarck Bobcats sliced the Blizzard lead to one goal, with under four minutes to go in the game. Blizzard Forward Sam Windsor (Plymouth, MN) closed out the scoring, with under a minute to go.
Forwards Andrew Olson (Alexandria, MN) and Ryan Hawkins (Eden Prairie, MN) each tallied two assists, to help fuel the Minnesota offense.
The Blizzard, now 21-11-2 on the season, will be back on the ice Saturday, January 15th, traveling to Bismarck to face the Bobcats, in a 7:00 PM start.
