Blizzard Eliminated
April 22, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Brookings Blizzard News Release
The first ever-home playoff game for the Brookings Blizzard didn't turn out the way the home crowd would have hoped. The Blizzard lost 6-0 to the Bismarck Bobcats and were eliminated from the NAHL Central Division playoffs.
Once again the Bobcats' offensive firepower and strong defense proved too much for the Blizzard. Matt Pohlkamp set the tone for the Bobcats scoring a power play goal just 1:59 seconds into the game.
In the second period the Bobcats would take advantage of two more power play opportunities as Shane Omdahl and Stanislav Dzakhov would each net one in the second frame.
The third period was much of the same. Cory Chapman would score twice in the final period and Bob Kinne would add one more goal.
The Bobcats completed the sweep Friday night and will travel to Austin next weekend for the first two games of the Central Division championship series. The Austin Bruins advanced after eliminating the Minot Minotauros in four games.
The Blizzard finished their inaugural season with an overall record of 32-26-5 and a third place finish in the Central Division.
