Bismarck Snaps Blizzard Unbeaten Streak at Home.
It was not the Blizzard's weekend, three loses was not what they needed.
The November 18th contest between the Blizzard and the Bismarck Bocats started out with an unassisted goal by the Bobcats' Kattelus in under five minutes into the first period. With patience and gritty determination Austun Tavis (assisted by Dan Swanson and Scott Motz) scored 1st for the Blizzard.
Two more goals helped the Bocats dig in with their claws and take a 3-1 lead. Second period came and went without much fanfare, each team had a couple powerplays that were uneventful.
During the third period the Blizzard's Dylan Decker scored his 2nd goal of the season with assists going to Ryan Shelafoe and Chris Johnson. That was the end of the Blizzard's scoring for the night. The Bobcats scored three more, including two back-to-back. The Blizzard tried to get some offense going by pulling the goalie with over 6 minutes to go in the game, but even with the extra attacker the Blizzard failed to score in a 6-2 lose to Bismarck.
Blizzard Loses a Close One at Home
Bozeman's 36 points leads all NAHL teams in points standings, coming to town with a 17 game win streak the Blizzard had a tough challenge. Bozeman's McKelvie scored first on a power play during one of only two first period penalties. A little over a minute later the Blizzard's Rylan Galiardi scored on a Scott Motz assisted goal. Under three minutes later Dan Swanson (assisted by Paul Henderson and Motz) scored to take the lead 2-1. The second period was filled with penalties and the momentum was taken back by the Icedogs. Bozeman scored two goals (by Bailey and Fylling respectively) in under six minutes and another one (by Bennett) later on in the period. The Blizzard never gave up and made a late run by scoring two goals, one by Austun Tavis (assisted by Sam Kelly and Henderson) and a second goal by Swanson (assisted by Motz and Henderson), yet it was not enough as the Icedogs scored the game winner with fourty-three seconds remaining. It was a heartbreaking lose for the Blizzard as Bozeman won 5-4.
