
Blaze Travel To Take On Division Rival San Jose

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze (5-3) continue their quest for an ArenaBowl championship when they take on the Western Division rival San Jose SaberCats (4-3) on Saturday, April 28 at HP Pavilion at 8:30 p.m. MT.
The game can be heard on 1280 The Zone with KEVIN GRAHAM and TOM GOODHINES calling the action. The game can also be seen on FSN Bay Area on a tape-delay basis on Sunday, April 29 at 1 a.m. (MT). Check your local service providers for the most updated times and listings.
"Traditionally, San Jose has always been a very good team," said head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "This year's team is no different. This game will have first place in the Western Division on the line and I expect it to be a battle to the end."
This will mark the third meeting between the two teams where the series is tied at 1-1. White is 7-11 head-to-head against SaberCats head coach, DARREN ARBET.
Four-time Offensive Player of the Game, QB JOE GERMAINE, has completed 221-of-312 passes (70.8%) so far this season. In the first eight games, Germaine has thrown for a league-leading 2,779 yards and 60 touchdowns (No. 2 in the league) with only three interceptions. Germaine also leads the League in average yards per game (347.4). SaberCats QB MARK GRIEB is 205-for-283 (72.4%) passing for 2,297 yards, 47 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Despite having missed one game in 2007, WR SIAHA BURLEY is currently leading the League in receiving yards (1,095) and is ranked No. 3 in receiving touchdowns (25). On defense, the Blaze are led by DB CLARENCE LAWSON who has recorded 37.0 tackles, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one interception.
The SaberCats are led by WR BEN NELSON who has recorded 71 receptions for 892 yards and 17 touchdowns. On defense, San Jose is led by DBs CLEVEN THOMAS and OMARR SMITH. So far this season, Thomas has recorded 41.5 total tackles, three interceptions and nine pass breakups and one forced fumble. Smith has tallied 38.5 tackles, two interceptions, and one pass breakup.
1280 The Zone will broadcast the Utah Blaze Show on Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. at The SkyBox in the Gateway in Salt Lake City. SCOTT GARRARD will host the show along with guest appearances from: OL HANS OLSEN, All-Arena WR SIAHA BURLEY and Salt Lake Tribune's JAY DREW.
