Blaze Travel for Pair of Games with Mavericks

The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, travel to suburban Kansas City for a pair of weekend contests against the Missouri Mavericks.

The Blaze face the Mavericks at the Independence Event Center for 7:05 p.m. face-offs on Friday and Saturday. The Blaze are in second place in the Central Hockey League standings with a 5-2-0 record and 10 points, two points behind the Allen Americans. The Blaze were 1-4-2 in the first seven games of last season. Jon Booras leads the Blaze in scoring with 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists). David Gilbert is coming off a hot weekend for the Blaze, gathering four goals and four assists in three games against Quad City to earn Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week honors. The Blaze took two out of three games with the Quad City Mallards during the past weekend.

The Mavericks are 2-3-2 with six points and are tied for eighth in the CHL race. Kellan Tochkin leads the Mavs with four goals while Sebastien Thinel leads the squad in overall scoring with 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists). The Mavericks dropped three games during the weekend to the Wichita Thunder, although Sunday's contest was a 4-3 overtime defeat.

The Blaze return home on Tuesday for a big contest with the league-leading Allen Americans in what could be a battle between the CHL's top two teams.
