Blaze Squeeze Life out of Nuts in Beating

July 25, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Bakersfield Blaze News Release

Anthony Misiewicz (W, 6-8) stepped on the mound and started pitching like he had better things to do.

With the temperature rising to 107 degrees at John Thurman Field on Sunday night, nobody could blame the left-hander.

Misiewicz threw with purpose and precision by working five strong innings, yielding one run off of four hits in a 8-1 Bakersfield (57-43) victory.

The win helped the Blaze split the 4-game series with the Nuts (38-62), but it also boosted their record to 14-7 in the head-to-head matchup against Modesto this year.

Austin Wilson ignited the offense as he was a triple short of the cycle. The Los Angeles native slugged his sixth home run of the season to center field giving Bakersfield a 1-0 lead in the second inning that they would never look back on.

Bako would chalk up three more runs in the fifth inning as second baseman Forrest Wall continued with his poor defensively play.

Wall committed three errors in Game 4 nearly matching his season-high four errors that he made back on July 1st against the Blaze.

Wilson's 3-5 effort was complemented nicely by the top of the lineup for the Blaze. Drew Jackson, Gianfranco Wawoe, and Tyler Marlette went a combined 7-15. The top portion of the Blaze lineup also drove in two runs and scored four times.

Bakersfield continues their 7-game road trip by heading to San Jose for a trio of games. First pitch on Monday starts at 7:00pm with David Gascon on the call courtesy of TuneIn Radio and BakersfieldBlaze.com.
