Blaze back on airwaves in 2005

BAKERSFIELD, CA----The Bakersfield Blaze of the California League announced KGEO 1230 AM will broadcast the entire 2005 season, the first time since 2003 the Blaze will be heard on the radio.

"Getting the Blaze back on the radio and specifically KGEO was a priority going into the off season" Blaze General Manager Chris Freshour said of the announcement. "The decision to broadcast the entire season and be on a signal as strong as KGEO will greatly increase our footprint in the community and enable our fans to follow us better both at home and on the road."

"American General Media has long taken the lead role in local and regional sports, and we are quite proud to bring the play-by-play of the Blaze back home onto KGEO AM and in general, into the Bakersfield community" stated Roger Fessler, General Manager of American General Media. "There was a void last year without the games being broadcast, and with the new affiliation of the Texas Rangers, new owners, and new management, there is obviously a great deal of excitement and enthusiasm about the coming season. We are genuinely excited about being a part of the Blaze."

Blaze Assistant General Manager and Bakersfield native Brian Thomas will handle the play by play for all 140 games. Thomas shared play by play duties for Blaze broadcasts during the 2002 and 2003 seasons.

Blaze baseball also has a new look on the web at www.bakersfieldblaze.com which the club launched today. IWS/D designed and maintains the new website for the Blaze.

"We are excited to bring a new look to our website" stated Freshour. "I have known and worked with Jason Best and IWS/D for a number of years. His skills and knowledge of web design are on the cutting edge of technology. We are looking forward to continuing him bringing more of his expertise to the website in the future."

Fanning the Flames....The Blaze will have an entry in the 2004 Bakersfield Christmas Parade on Thursday, December 2 in downtown Bakersfield, Blaze staff and mascot Rookie will participate. ....Blaze staff have been active at the Holiday's assisting with the Salvation Army Bell Ringing program. General Manager Chris Freshour has taken two shifts at the Marketplace this past Saturday November 20 and will be at the corner of 17th and Chester Avenue from 2pm to 3pm on Friday, December 3.
