Blast Hope to Continue Streak Through Tough Weekend Ahead

INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Blast will look to continue their winning streak through the coming weekend as they travel to Minneapolis on Saturday and Milwaukee on Sunday. The Blast have won two games in a row at home, the latter being the first leg of Open Cup qualifications that will continue in Minnesota on Friday evening. The Blast lead 2-1 in the two-game, aggregate score contest.

The Blast will play at home again on Tuesday, June 4th at 7:35pm at Kuntz Memorial Stadium when they take on the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps. It's YOUTH SOCCER NIGHT!! Youth soccer players under the age of 18 get in FREE by wearing their team jersey. The event is sponsored by Circle City Pizza and SBC Ameritech Yellow Pages.

LAST WEEK-The Blast (2-3-0) stormed through the Thunder 2-1 last Friday evening at Kuntz Memorial Stadium. The Blast's Gino DiGuardi opened the scoring in the 12th minute on a quick turnaround shot off a pass from teammate Jeremy Sweet. The Thunder scored the equalizer in the 48th minute on a perfectly placed header by Jakob Fenger. The Blast fought back as Rodrigo Costa put away the game winner just two minutes later to give the Blast their second straight win of the season. The match was also an Open Cup qualifying match in which the Blast now lead 2-1 in an aggregate score contest that will continue when the Blast travel to meet the Thunder again this weekend.

THIS WEEK-After taking the weekend off, the Blast are back at practice the entire week. Training sessions are open to both the public and the media. Contact MorSports, Inc. for practice times and venues.

BLAST AWARDS-One Blast player was nominated to a USL (United Soccer Leagues) team of the week for his performance in last Fridays win against Minnesota. Forward Rodrigo Costa was nominated to the "Golden Boots" team for his game-winning goal in a 2-1 defeat of the Minnesota Thunder. Costa is currently tied for the leading goal scorer in the league with four goals in five games.

UPCOMING MATCHES-The Blast head out on a very important road trip this weekend where they will face two intra-divisional opponents. The first match will be Saturday, May 25th in Blaine, MN against the Minnesota Thunder in the second and final leg of Open Cup qualifications. On the following evening the Blast will be in Milwaukee, WI to face the Milwaukee Rampage. The Blast will be looking for revenge as the Rampage handed the Blast a double overtime 2-1 loss on May 3rd at Kuntz Memorial Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.

UPCOMING APPEARANCES-Blast players will be making an appearance at Celebrations Banquet Facilities for the ATA company picnic on Saturday, June 1st from 11:00am-1:00pm.
