Indiana Blast News Release
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Blast (3-16-1 10 pts) picked up their third win of the season by beating the defending A-League champions Milwaukee Wave United (7-8-0, 21 pts) 3-1 Friday night at Kuntz Stadium. Jamar Beasley, Rodrigo Costa, and Jeff Dresser scored for the Blast. Dino Delevski converted a penalty kick for Milwaukee in stoppage time. It was the first A-League win for interim coach Mike Sanich of the Blast, who took over in late June.
Jamar Beasley started the Blast scoring in the 43rd minute. Godfrey Tenoff sent a pass up the middle of the field that bounced off a couple of Wave United defenders. Beasley ran onto the ball and kicked it through the hands of Wave United keeper Jim Larkin.
Costa ripped a beautiful free kick over the Milwaukee player wall and into the upper 90 in the 60th minute to build the lead up to 2-0.
It looked like a sure 2-0 victory for the Blast, but John Ball was dragged down inside the penalty area during stoppage time to give Milwaukee a penalty kick, which Dino Delevski converted to cut the lead to 2-1.
Jeff Dresser sealed the victory in the last minute of stoppage time with his 75th professional goal. James Prosser sent a beautiful ball downfield and Dresser outran everybody to the ball creating a one-on-one against the goalie. Larkin slowed Jeff's shot, but the ball still trickled into the goal to give the Blast the much-needed win 3-1.
The Blast's next home game will be Saturday, July 26th against the Vancouver Whitecaps at 7:35 pm at Kuntz Stadium. Gates open at 6:30pm.
