Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades (25-21-0-3) kick off the month of February tomorrow night as they play host to the Calgary Hitmen (33-14-1-3) to start a big weekend.

Saskatoon enters the game with two straight victories and currently sit 7th overall in the WHL's Eastern Conference with 53 points. The Hitmen are 3rd in the East with 70 points in 51 games.

The Saskatoon Blades won their second straight game last night as they dumped the Brandon Wheat Kings by a score of 5-1. The Blades did most of their damage in the second period as they scored 3 times to take a commanding 4-1 lead heading into the final frame. A goal by Collin Valcourt late in the 3rd iced it for Saskatoon as a Michael Ferland tally stood up as the game-winning goal.

The game between the Blades and Hitmen marks only the second meeting of the season between these two squads and the first time that they are playing in Saskatoon. The Blades are 1-0 in the season series, as they won 4-0 in Calgary at the end of November.

It should be a great meeting between a pair of dangerous hockey clubs so make sure you are here at the Credit Union Centre to check it out!
