Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Longview-Kelso, Washington, Tuesday, March 8, 2011: Standout Arizona State freshman right-hander Mark Lambson has signed to pitch for the Cowlitz Black Bears this summer. Lambson, a 5'10" 185 pounder, is from Tualatin, Oregon.

"Mark has a chance to be a special player," said Black Bears coach Bryson LeBlanc. Lambson has made two early season appearances for the Sun Devils, working 8 innings, allowing only 4 hits, with an opponents' batting average of .148.

Lambson joins returning pitchers Jeff Gold (University of Oregon), Kevin Bosson (Cal Poly Pomona), Richi Sandoval (New Mexico Highland), along with new Black Bears Matt Maurer (Pepperdine), Ricky Villareal (Pepperdine), Grahamm Wiest (Cal St Fullerton), and Brandon Brennan (University of Oregon).

"We're excited to get an exceptional athlete who wants to return to his home area for the summer," said Black Bears general manager Grant Wilson. "Arizona State coach Tim Esmay is one of the finest coaches in the country and we hope Mark Lambson is the first of many Sun Devils heading to Cowlitz for the summer."

The Black Bears have additional players to sign as the club prepares for the 2011 season, which begins June 3rd at Story Field.
