Longview-Kelso: July 20, 2011: The Black Bears' late-game offense came through for the second straight game, but while the deficit was smaller than last night it still was too much to overcome. With the loss the Bears dropped both the three-game and the season series to the Kitsap BlueJackets.
The BlueJackets scored two runs in both the second and third off of Cowlitz starter Kevin Bosson (Cal Poly Pomona). The Black Bears countered with one in the fourth and one in the sixth, but each time Kitsap responded with tallies of their own. Six consecutive Black Bears reached base in the 9th to plate two runs, but Kyle Garlick (University of Oregon) struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning and the rally.
Spencer O'Neil (University of Oregon) led the way at the plate with two doubles. Mike Bush (Lewis-Clark St.) had a double, a single, and a RBI, and Greg Velazquez (Cal St. Fullerton) reached base on a pair of walks.
The series finale is tomorrow at 6:35 pm. It's another Thirsty Thursday, as well as Ladies' Night presented by Estetica Day Spa. Ladies will receive $2 off general admissions tickets, and beer will be just two dollars all night long.
