Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Longview: July 22, 2012: A leadoff home run by a Wenatchee hitter in the top of the ninth gave the visiting AppleSox a 7-6 victory over the Cowlitz Black Bears Sunday night.

The Black Bears took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on RBI walks from Nick Paxton (Mt. Hood) and Tyler Madrid (Santa Ana). Wenatchee edged ahead and took a 5-2 lead into the fifth before the Black Bears countered with four runs to retake the lead. Brian Carroll (UCLA) and Konnor Armijo (Santa Ana) had RBI doubles, Carroll scored on an error, and Alex Rubanowitz (UC Riverside) bunted Armijo in.

Wenatchee tied the game with a two-out run-scoring single in the seventh and went ahead for good on the solo home run that just barely cleared the right field fence.
