Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Longview-Kelso: June 13, 2011: Graham Weist (Cal St. Fullerton) took the mound for his second start in West Coast League action and pitched a gem. The native of Orange, California delivered eight innings of one-run ball, scattering six hits and striking out three.

Alex Phillips, his counterpart for Wenatchee, went one fewer inning but gave up one fewer run, and that proved to be the difference in the ballgame as the Black Bears on the night managed three hits and two walks.

Brent Graham (LCC) went 0-for-4 at the plate, but in his first start at third this season turned in a gem on the diamond with eight assists. Braxton Miller (Lewis-Clark St.) doubled in the 4th inning but was tagged out trying to score on a ground out by Brett Thomas (University of Oregon).

The teams will face each other again tomorrow, Tuesday, June 14, at 6:35pm. It will be Azteca $2 Tuesday, where tickets, hot dogs, soda, and beer are all just $2 apiece. Also happening is Kelso Schools Spirit Night, so be sure to wear your school pride to the park.
