Black Bears Fall Short 2-1 at Corvallis,
August 4, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
Corvallis: Though there are no moral victories in baseball, Saturday was a big improvement for the Black Bears. After getting no-hit and losing 14-0 last night, the Black Bears fell 2-1 to the Corvallis Knights.
Cody Rogina (UC Riverside) had a great night on the mound, going six innings and allowing just one earned run. John Bjorklund (Mt. Hood) was able to get the team out of a jam with three big outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to keep the game close.
The Black Bears finally broke through when Kyle Kuck (Santa Ana) scored on an errant throw on a double steal. Kuck had two of the team's three base hits; the other was a single by Alex Rubanowitz (UC Riverside).
The Black Bears next home game is Sunday, August 5 against the WCL Portland All-Stars and it will be Best Care- Local Care Presents Kids Club & Senior Sundays. There will be a $2 ticket discount for all seniors. Kids Club members get in for free. Kids run the bases after the game.
