Tucson, AZ -Second baseman Brian Bistange hit a RBI single in the 11th inning as the Toros walked off on the Maui Na Koa Ikaika 4-3 Saturday night.
Maui scored the first 2 runs of the game, but the Toros pulled within one in the bottom of the 5th inning after and RBI single by newcomer Ron Perodin. Tucson would even the score in the 6th after Third basemen Wally Backman Jr. scored due to a throwing error by Maui Centerfielder Tim Battle.
In the 7th, Maui went back on top with a solo homerun over the left centerfield wall by Rightfielder Michael Higa. Toros Right fielder Lino Garcia tied the game at 3 a piece with an RBI double in the bottom of the frame.
Starter John Bannister got the job done on the mound, posting a quality start with 8 innings of work, just 4 hits, 3 runs (1 earned), 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Reliever Emiliano Fruto threw 3 scoreless innings to finish the game.
Centerfielder Ron Perodin was solid in his Toros debut belting out 2 hits, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
The impressive hit streaks for Toros Right fielder Francisco Plasencia, Shortstop Ryan Priddy and First baseman Cristobal Santana all continued. Plasencia extended his hit streak to 7 games, Priddy is now at 8 games, and Santana prolonged his streak to 11 straight games tying Victor Ferrante for the longest for a Toros this year.
The Toros will wrap up the series and play game 3 of the 6 game homestand tomorrow on Dollar Dog Sunday with a 7:00 p.m. first pitch. The game can be heard live on COOL 1450 AM or video streaming over the Internet at www.tucsontoros.com.
