TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Gwinnett Braves in the second game of a four-game series at Coolray Field (7:05 p.m.) The Herd lost the series opener to the Braves last night, 7-2. The defeat is the third consecutive loss for Buffalo. After this four-game series, the Bisons will travel to Charlotte for a four-game series starting Friday June 25.
MOUND WORK: LHP PAT MISCH will take the mound against Gwinnett tonight. The lefty is winless in his last three starts despite pitching extremely well in his last outing, June 17 against Indy. In the start, Misch allowed just two earned runs in seven innings of work with four strikeouts, but the Indians won 2-0. The Bisons are still 9-4 when Misch starts for the team.
BURNIN' TURNER: INF JUSTIN TURNER went 3-4 with a walk in last night's defeat. It was Turner's seventh multi-hit performance in 23 games since joining the Bisons on May 27. Overall, Turner has a hit in 19 of the 23 games with Buffalo and has failed to reach base in only one game (July 17 vs. Indy). Turner has a .388 on-base percentage as a Bison.
HITTING MACHINE: INF MIKE JACOBS was 2-4 with a run, an RBI and a walk in last night's game. Jacobs has reached base seven times over the last three games. The slugger is 4-12 (.333) at the plate with three walks since Saturday. His RBI last night was his 33rd of the season, second on the team behind only INF MIKE HESSMAN.
LEFTY MIKE: LHP MIKE O'CONNOR has made five consecutive scoreless appearances for the Herd. During the stretch, the lefty has allowed just three hits while striking out seven batters in 6.2 innings of work. On the season, O'Connor has retired the first batter he's faced in 21 of his 25 outings (84%) and has only allowed five of 21 inherited runners to score (24%).
BISONS BITS: OF JORGE PADILLA recorded the Bisons 17th outfield assist last night...The Bisons drew a season-high eight walks last night. The Bisons entered Monday's game with only 182 free passes, the fewest in the International League.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (39-30) had the day off yesterday. Tonight, New York will host the Detroit Tigers for the first game of a three-game series (7:10 p.m.). Former Bison LHP JON NIESE will take the mound for tonight's game. Niese has won three straight starts, having allowed just four total runs in his last 23.0 innings of work. Following this three-game series with the Tigers, the Mets will continue their six-game homestand with the Minnesota Twins on Friday.
