Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (34-38/6-4) and Biloxi Shuckers (38-39/4-6) were suspended due to rain on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium. The game will be resumed on Sunday at 2:30 PM CT with Biloxi leading Montgomery, 6-4, in the top of the 10th inning with a nine-inning game to follow 30 minutes after in what will be the series finale.

Reliever Sean Hunley made his second start of the season for the Biscuits, and the right-hander allowed a lead-off single to Sal Frelick before getting Joey Wiemer to ground into a 4-6-3 double play. Hunley then got Andruw Monasterio to pop out to shallow center field and faced the minimum in the top of the first.

Carlos Luna was on the mound on the other side for Biloxi, and the righty faced the minimum in the bottom of the first, striking out Jordan Qsar swinging to end the inning.

Hunley struck out a pair in the top of the second, but allowed three-consecutive singles to Thomas Dillard, Felix Valerio, and Cam Devanney sandwiched in between the punch-outs, the latter of which scored a run on a Niko Hulsizer error in left field that made it 1-0 Biloxi. Kameron Misner doubled off Luna to begin the bottom of the second, but the Biscuits went three-and-out the rest of the inning.

The Shuckers added to their tally in the top of the third thanks to three more consecutive hits: a Frelick single, a Wiemer double, and a Monasterio two-run single, which increased the Biloxi lead to 3-0. Luna struck out Brett Wisely looking in a one-two-three bottom of the third, and then Devanney led off the top of the fourth with a solo homer off Joe LaSorsa that nailed the batter's eye in straightaway center to make it 4-0 Shuckers.

The Biscuits mounted a rally in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an RBI-double by Misner and a two-run double by Garrett Hiott that made it a 4-3 ballgame. LaSorsa struck out two more batters to run his total to four in a scoreless top of the fifth. J.T. Hintzen relieved Luna in the bottom of the fifth, and worked a one-two-three frame, as well as a scoreless sixth.

LaSorsa, who struck out five over three innings, was lifted for Chris Gau, who worked a scoreless top of the seventh. Noah Zavolas, who relieved Hintzen, kept the Biscuits off the board in the bottom of seventh, while Gau did the same to the Shuckers in the top of the eighth.

Qsar doubled with one out in the bottom of the eighth, and then tried to score on a Misner single to right in the next at-bat, but was thrown out at the plate by Wiemer to keep it a 4-3 game. Carlos Garcia came on for Gau and worked a clean top of the ninth, recording a strikeout.

Roberto Alvarez singled off Zavolas to begin the bottom of the ninth, and then Greg Jones came on to pinch run for the catcher. Jones stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and then scored the tying run an Evan Edwards opposite-field RBI-single to left that made it 4-4.

The game then shifted to extra innings, where Dillard's two-run double to left off Garcia handed Biloxi the lead back at 6-4 before the tarp came on the field during the downpour, suspending the game.

Jayden Murray (6-2) faces Victor Castaneda (1-3) in Sunday's series finale when there will be a Fishing Bobber Giveaway presented By Go Fish Alabama & Bark in the Park.
