New York Dragons News Release
New York Dragons kicker Rob Bironas has signed with the Tennessee Titans of the NFL. He will compete for the placekicking duties along with former AFL kicker Ola Kimrin. With Bironas on the Titans roster, the Dragons have placed him on the Other League Exempt List. He is the second player to be placed on the list this week, following DS Billy Parker, who signed with the Miami Dolphins.
"We're happy for Rob that he was able to get another crack at the NFL," said Dragons Director of Player Personnel Rory Vacco, who signed Bironas on November 3, 2004. "Rob's ultimate goal was to kick in the NFL and he's gotten close on many occasions. Hopefully, this will be the one for him. We wish him all the best."
Bironas completed his second season in the AFL and first as a Dragon in 2005. In his career, he converted 24 of 56 field goal attempts and 169 of 206 extra point attempts. He set a new Dragons franchise record for touchbacks last season with 53.
The 27-year old kicker nearly won the kicking job in 2004 with Pittsburgh and has had tryouts with Tampa Bay and Green Bay.
