Birmingham's Justin Larson Named Warrior Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Justin Larson of the Birmingham Bulls is the Warrior Player of the Week for November 5-11.

Larson scored three goals, including one game-winner, added three assists and was +4 as Birmimgham took a pair of games from Quad City to stay a perfect 6-0 on the season. The Bulls' six-game winning streak to begin a season is just one shy of the league record set by Huntsville at the start of the 2010-11 season.

On Friday, the Buckhorn, ON native led the Bulls as they rallied from a five-goal deficit to defeat Quad City 6-5 in overtime. After assisting on Birmingham's first goal with 49 seconds remaining in the second period, Larson scored two of Birmingham's three goals in a span of 1:59 midway through the third period to pull the Bulls to within two. Then, with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker, Larson assisted on the tying goal with just 50 seconds remaining in regulation. Lar- son capped the improbable comeback by scoring the game-winner 1:46 into overtime, finishing off his hat trick and earning his fifth point of the evening. The following night, Larson assisted on Birmingham's first goal in a 2-1 win over the Storm.

Now in his first full season with Birmingham, Larson is tied for third in the SPHL in both points (10) and assists (seven). Larson played the 2016-2017 season in Germany, recording 27 goals and 45 assists in 44 games with Tilburg while adding 13 goals and 16 assists in 16 playoff games as the Trappers captured the Germany3 (Oberliga) Championship.
