Bingham, Stewart, and Craig Added to \'Ants

Tupelo, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts are pleased to announce three more player signees to their 2005 United Indoor Football lineup.

Joining the ‘Ants for another season is defensive back Eric Bingham and offensive lineman William Stewart. Also, the FireAnts have added a new face on the defensive line, Patrick Craig.

DB Eric Bingham returns to Tupelo for his fourth season with the FireAnts. Hailing from Vicksburg, Mississippi, Bingham has been a force on the FireAnts defense since 2002. Last season with the ‘Ants, Bingham was responsible for 67.5 total tackles, eight interceptions, and nine passes defended, earning NIFL All-Conference honors for his efforts.

"Hard hitter...that is what Bingham brings to the field," FireAnts Head Coach John Fourcade said. "He has a nose for football and has the opportunity to be a playmaker."

OL William Stewart, a native of Pontotoc, Mississippi, attended Mississippi Valley State University where he received his degree in Health & Physical Education in 2000. Stewart joined the FireAnts in 2002, after serving as the offensive line coach at Benedict College in Columbia, SC. This season will mark Stewart's fourth year of professional indoor football with the FireAnts.

"Stewart is compact at center and plays with lots of heart," Fourcade continues. "He understands the game and we expect another solid season from him this year."

New to the ‘Ants in 2005 is defensive lineman Patrick Craig. Craig, a 6-foot-3, 245-pounder from Morton, Mississippi, played football at the University of North Alabama in Florence. This season is his first playing professional indoor football.

"Craig has his motor running at all times," Fourcade said. "He is really going to be a standout player in the indoor football game and I look forward to seeing him develop and excel with the FireAnts."

The Tupelo FireAnts begin the 2005 season at home next week, Saturday, March 19th against the reigning indoor football national champions, the Lexington Horsemen. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm. Individual game tickets are on sale now at the BancorpSouth Center Box Office by calling (662) 841-6528.
