New York Dragons News Release

Dragons 2005 All-Arena Defensive Specialist has signed with the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. He will compete for a roster spot as a safety in Miami and will wear No. 35. Parker originally signed with the Dragons on October 19, 2004 as a result of attending an open tryout earlier in the month. He is now placed on the Dragons' Exempt List. "This was an amazing opportunity that I couldn't pass up," said Parker. "I owe a lot to the Dragons for giving me a chance to play the game I love. I want to thank everyone on Long Island because I couldn't have made this step in my career without the help of my coaches and teammates. I'll always be a Dragon." As a rookie in 2005, Parker emerged as a defensive star by leading the AFL in interceptions with ten. He was named to the All-Rookie and All-Arena squads and was a runner up for Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors. His ten interceptions also tied the franchise mark, which was originally set by DS Kevin Kaesviharn, who is now a safety with the Cincinnati Bengals. Parker also led all rookies and finished seventh overall in the league in tackles with 90.0 and tied for third in passes defensed with 21. Parker attended minicamp with the Cleveland Browns in the spring of 2004 before joining the Dragons. Parker's collegiate career at William & Mary was highlighted by two selections to the Atlantic 10 First Team in 2002 and 2003.
