San Antonio Scorpions News Release
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Monday, March 23, 2015) - Scorpions Billy Forbes and Richard Menjivar will each be representing their country during upcoming FIFA International dates.
Forward Billy Forbes will play for Turks and Caicos as they kick off the first round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia with a home-and-home series against fellow island nation St. Kitts and Nevis. On March 23, they will play on the road at Warner Park Football Stadium in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis. Three days later, the return match will be played at TCIFA National Academy in Forbes' hometown of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.
Richard Menjivar has become a mainstay in midfield for El Salvador as he started eight matches for them in 2014. He and his teammates will take on Argentina - and one Leonel Messi - in a friendly March 28 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. After a cross-country trip, Los Cuscatlecos will play Central American rivals Guatemala at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, on March 31.
"We are always proud when one of our players is called in to play for their national team," said President/GM Howard Cornfield. "It is an honor to represent one's country and we appreciate the opportunity for Billy and Richie to bring international attention to Soccer for a Cause."
Forbes has four previous appearances for Turks and Caicos and was a starter each time. Menjivar boasts 18 total caps for his national team and scored his first international goal at the senior level during the 2014 Copa Centroamericana.
The 2015 San Antonio Scorpions season is presented by deeproot Funds. The Scorpions will play the Costa Rica U-23 National Team in an international friendly March 28th at Toyota Field.
