Biletnikoff Back, Announces First Tryout

After inheriting a 1-8 football team halfway through the 2004 season Fred Biletnikoff Jr. turned the Central Valley Coyotes into a 12-4 playoff team in 2006. This turn around has earned Biletnikoff a contract renewal for the 2007 season and another chance to capture the organizations first Arena Cup.

"I am excited about staying in Fresno for another season and getting an opportunity to build on last year," stated Biletnikoff. "Despite losing in the first round of the playoffs last year, finishing the regular season on a seven game winning streak and going 12-4 has us really motivated for the 2007 season."

That motivation has prompted Biletnikoff to focus on recruiting more than ever. The Coyotes will have four open tryouts this year, one each month from November to February. "For our tryouts in December and January we've targeted two cities, other than Fresno. But, we wanted to have the first one right here in our own backyard." The first open tryout will be held in Fresno on November 18th, 1:00pm at the Velocity Sports Performance facility. "Owner Bill Costa has put together a state-of-the-art training facility right here in Fresno and we are fortunate to have partnered with him to host our first tryout of the year," said Biletnikoff.

At the first tryout players will be tested in the 40 yard dash, a 3 Cone L Drill, the bench press (225 x max reps), the vertical jump, and the 20 yard short shuttle. Also, position specific individual drills will be conducted along with 1 on 1's defensive backs vs. receivers and defensive linemen vs. offensive linemen. Attire for the tryout will be shorts or sweats, tee shirts or sweat shirts and shoes with no screw-ins or no molded spikes.

DIRECTIONS: Take Bullard exit off of Highway 41 in Fresno. Head east on Bullard to First Street. Head south on First Street to Barstow. Velocity is at the Southwest corner of First/Barstow, across from Hoover High School.
