
Bighorns Pull Off Comeback Win Over Erie, 106-101

ERIE, Penn.- Trailing by 10 points entering the fourth quarter, the Reno Bighorns outscored Erie 35-20 in the final period to take the series opener, 106-101, on Sunday night in Tullio Arena.
Reno jumped out early, leading 15-8 midway through the first period, but Erie clawed back to cut the lead to four after the first. It was all Erie in the second and third quarters, stretching their lead to 10 points heading into the fourth.
In the final frame, Reno trailed by 11 with just over nine minutes to play, but answered with a 21-6 run over the next seven and a half minutes to take a 99-95 lead it would not relinquish. The âHorns cemented the victory by converting on five-of-six free throws over the game's final 5.1 seconds, taking Game One of this best-of-three series. The win extended Reno's franchise-best winning streak to nine games.
Marcus Landry led the Bighorns with 25 points-including 12 in the fourth quarter-while Anthony Richardson and Andre Emmett chipped in with 20 points apiece. Bobby Simmons added 17 points and nine rebounds for Reno, which will have a chance to close out the series at home on Tuesday night.
Ivan Johnson paced the BayHawks with a game-high 30 points on 13-20 shooting, adding 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Erik Daniels came off the bench with 21 points for the BayHawks.
Game Two is set for Tuesday night in the Reno Events Center at 7 p.m., with a potential Game Three to be played in Reno on Thursday at 7 p.m.
