
Bighorns Fall Short to Bakersfield

RENO, Nev., Feb. 08, 2015- Despite the Bighorns notching 11 three pointers in the first quarter and Jordan Hamilton logging a double-double, the Bighorns fell 139-137 to the Bakersfield Jam Sunday night at the Reno Events Center.
Ra'Shad James paced the Bighorns with his career high of 32 points and added nine rebounds for the Bighorns. Hamilton counted 26 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists while David Wear notched 19 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Cameron Ayers and David Stockton totaled seven assists each.
Assignment player from the Phoenix Suns, Archie Goodwin, led the Jam with 35 points, five assists, and seven rebounds. Jam Forward Jamil Wilson totaled 26 points, three assists, and eight rebounds.
During the first quarter in play, James led the quarter with 13 points and two rebounds. Melvin Johnson netted eight points while Ayers, Wear, and Stockton had six points each. Stockton added four assists in the quarter. The Bighorns scored 47 points in the quarter compared to the Jams 34 points.
During the second, Hamilton tallied seven points and three rebounds, leading the Bighorns in the quarter. Stockton and Tajuan Porter notched six points each.
The Bighorns went into the locker room at the half trailing the Jam by three (76-73).
In the third quarter, the Bighorns went 50.0% from behind the arc (9-18), compared to the Jam's 27.3% (3-11). James netted 11 points and added four rebounds in the quarter. Wear had eight points, two assists, and four rebounds while Stockton added three rebounds.
During the final quarter in play, Jordan Hamilton had nine points, three rebounds, and two assists. James and Porter had three points each.
The Bighorns finished tonight's contest shooting 47.3% from behind the arc (26-55).
The Bighorns are on the road this week, taking on the Delaware 87ers Tuesday morning. The Bighorns return home Thursday, February 19 to face the Austin Spurs.
